In 2003, Rein
Angus Farm sold the feedlot steers and heifers on
a grid based market, instead of the usual
livestock auction barn. This marketing
strategy provided valuable carcass data and
information to further enhance our genetic
program. The results were very rewarding,
and gave us the peace of mind knowing our Angus
cattle and genetics would breed on and improve the
profitability for our customers! Between
Sept. 9th and Nov. 4th, 2003, Rein Angus Farm sent
31 head to slaughter grade and yield...primarily
the steers and heifers that weren't retained as
breeding stock. NOT our top end! Here
are the results:
25 graded Certified Angus Beef
(CAB)! That's over 80% on 31 head!
23 graded Choice...75%
8 graded Prime...25%
NONE graded Select!
30 had a yield grade 2 or 3...97%
Factor in the grid premiums, along with
the growth and feed conversion of these
cattle, and you can soon see how profitable
Rein Angus Farm genetics can be!
